Cricket!!!

"Cricket is a game played by 11 flannelled fools and watched by 11000 fools"
-- Bernard Shaw

huge amount of money is spent....could have been spent more usefully....
Many watch it.. could have spent their time more usefully....

when he hits century.. the whole nation enjoys....is it true.... i believe so...
a kid with a bright smile...."Hey he hit a century yesterday, did you watch it"
millions of smile.. even if it lasts for one day.. it fills them with happiness...

there are very few ways through which happiness can be spread across nations..
Sports is one of them...let the people love sports and their sports heroes...

they can enjoy the moments along with the heros as they perform...
i agree that people would not have any money in their pocket...
but the time spent would have them filled with some emotion...
for me.. very few in my life can fill me with emotions as cricket can...

i thank my mom for teaching me to understand this game...

the moment i saw the score below... i was thrilled...

Ireland 221/9 (50 ov)
Zimbabwe 221/10 (50.0 ov)
Match over

happy to be a flannelled fool...
but sad to be in a place where the money and time was not used to eliminate poverty..

i don't think we can afford to look at things that simplistically, simple fellow :)

see, every society must strive towards alleviating poverty(i don't think it can ever be eliminated, that would be a utopian ideal). and i think most societies do it, in their own ways. but it can't be the only agenda for man, can it? what i mean is - ur concept of spending money on poverty rather than sport - could we extended to most other things - entertainment, cosmetics, fashion and so on. why, some of the more serious issues too - like say, education or health - could we prioritise poverty above education? i don't think so...

yes dharmabum, I do understand that we can not change anything in this world easily, things change by themselves. I do believe that this world is perfect in the way it is. There is nothing wrong with this world :)

we may or may not not be able to change things about the world around us. but we can change ourselves. like gandhi says 'you must be the change that you want to see in the world aoround you'.

to stretch that a lil further - i am quite convinced we CAN actually change things around us - it starts from within. what say?

Yep, one can start the change if mentally strong, but the fate of the chain reaction is decided by the world.
